in case some of you haven't heard phil spector was arrested today for possible murder. He really should have been arrested a long time ago for his crappy overproduction. He turned sometimes decent music into adult contemporay soccer mom garbage. He should have served all the albums he produced with arugula and sun dried tomatoes. Could I have some extra pine nuts please? haw haw haw. At least the beatles (what's left of them) are going to re-release Let it Be without all the phil spector treated garbage. Might be an ok listen with rawer tracks.

It happens to all the great ones Spector, Joe Meek, Dave Koresh, that dude that killed the chick durring the Love Rollercoaster session. Theres something about this hobby that makes us Kill.

i like Phil Spector. his stuff is fun. aren't we allowed to just have fun anymore, or does everything have to be cutting edge?

I could write a lot about Spector's productions but nobodys gonna give a shit so I'll spare everybody.
 
I'd put anything produced by Phil Spector way way above anything produced by that bag-o-shit O.J. Fuckin' Simpleton anyday ("Capricorn One"... !!!)

Before you go slamming and denigrating someone's work, you might want to do a little research.
Phil Spector is responsible for a lot of recording techniques that survive today and he did it with minimalist equipment before all the toys came along.
He started working with mono tape and was able to get sounds no one else could at the time.
He made his first million by the time he was 21.
He's produced and engineered for some of the biggest names and was the first to produce the girl groups of the late fifties-early sixties.
Posters might want to reflect on what they've accomplished with their lives before dumping on one of the pioneers and innovators in the business.

But according to Ronnie Spector, a seriously flawed human being. Isn't that always the way with genius?! Otherwise I agree with those who say he's done far more good in the music world than harm.

I have to agree. He sure as hell killed the Let It Be album.
 
oh, track ratard is just mad 'cause i know he is a prosumer recordists and I don't get all hot and bothered about home recordists and find the whole enterprise rather annoying and ridiculous. He's probably got a mullet and plays annoying blues based jammy solos ad infinitum. yeah, ratard is right I don't record anything. That's why I just finished calibrating my reel to reel and putting 30 seconds of 100 hz, 1khz and 10 khz of tone down. and now I'm going to go ahead and splice two 2" reels together so I can get 30 minutes of playing time for this stupid jam band's 28 minute long song. I told the dumbasses to get a Jaz reel. I just do things like this for fun. ps. I still think phil spector is lame, thee nubs would much rather hear the righteous brothers without his annoying treatments.
 
I'm sure there are people out there who don't like everything the Beatles did. Should we arrest George Martin too?

Even the Beatles acknowledge that they "gave him the shittiest load of shit" to produce. The band was falling apart, and was being scrutinised by cameras. Not a good musical combination.

How exactly would you have polished the turd differently :) ?
