I have a tascam 414, two shure sm58's, a nanoverb, and I mixdown to cassettes. I am really stuck about what piece of equiptment I should be saving for next. I would eventually like to be making cd's to listen to instead of tapes,and I would like to improve the sound quality of my recordings. Can anyone give me any thoughts about what to buy next?

I have a similar setup 414 sm57's nano verb, and mixdown to casette. A inexpensive addition that would help for mixdown would be a stero compressor. I noticed a big differance once I started to compress the signal before the casette player.

Good luck;

Do you have a computer? If yes, get a good soundcard. If not, get a computer and a good soundcard.

I too have a similar setup, 424, Shure SM57's, nanoverb, nanocompressor and record to cassette. Yeah, get a compressor next but AVOID the nanocomp. Get the RNC. Also, one piece of equipment that really improves my recordings with a final 'tweak' is the sonic maximizer by BBE!

Yes I have a computer, and I was thinking about maybe the darla soundcard. What improvements could I make with the addition of the computer? (i never seem to get the same answer on this one...)
