The latest recording I have on the net would be the song "Who Knew" by mean tangerine www.myspace.com/meantangerine67 I didnt do the rest of the tunes on there....... and if I did, i wouldn't own up to it lol.

The plugs on that one are all N-track stock plugs, and BlueLIne plugs(freebies). I have been playing around at my buddies place with the Waves plugs-ins(native maybe?) and they sound friggen wicked.

Sounds good, a little trebley on the lead guitar (my assumption is the guitar sucks, sounds like the part is out of key anyway).

Where'd you get the blueline plugs?

Plugins come in various file formats VST being the most common. Plugins are not hardware, but hardware like the UAD-1 power only plugins designed for the UAD-1. PLugins can be all sorts of things, EQ's, compressors, delays, reverb, pitch shift, etc. They PLUG-INto a channel insert, all host programs handle it somewhat differently, but the out come should be the same. You plugin a EQ to track/channel one and the EQ affects whatever audio is on that channel, etc. etc. etc. There are two main "powered" plugins, powercore and UAD-1. UAD-1's are cards that go into your computer, they come in PCI form or for newer computer PCI express (PCIe). Powercore units come in several flavors PCI cards being one of them, newer versions are external boxes that plug into firewire ports. Now you ask why would I want something like a UAD-1 or a powercore unit when my host software came with everything I need? One they offload processing power so your CPU is used less so you can run more tracks with more plugins that do use your cpu for processing, and two the plugins that run on them are better then what came with your software 99% of the time.

Does that help?

Search blueline plug ins on google. They should be kicking around on some site somewhere. Also, that guitar is a touch trebly, but that is more the way they played it, also, that was before I owned a 57, and was done with a 58 rip off...... which is kindy harsh sounding anyways.

If you can't find the blue lines, PM me and I will see if I can find the old install file, and send it to you!

What exactly is the UAD-1?

It's audio crack cocaine. Just hook it up to my veins!!!!!

I can't recommend buying a used one for $300 (certainly not $400, that's what they sell for new), because you can buy a Flexi Pak for $650 new which gives you the card plus $500 of plugs, and all the plugs are on sale through Dec. 31.

The problem is the plugs are expensive, but they sound so damn good that you just keep buying more and more, and then you've maxed out CPU on your card, so you have to buy another card . . .

Pretty soon you're laying in the gutter after turning tricks trying to save up for the Neve 33609 . . .

Just say no, man. Just walk away. :(

Thanks man, I'll look for them. As for the guitar, ya, that was my guitar that I used when I recorded that track (that was one of my old bands). I was pissed after, I mixed it down before I realized the timing in a lot of parts was off, and it urks me everytime I hear it. I used an sm57 for those guitars, since then I've switched to the E609 which I think sounds a lot better.

I downloaded them, but I can't get them to work. I'm assuming I'm doing something wrong. After they are downloaded, there's no "start up" file to get it working, and I don't know where to go in Cool edit pro to find it through there.

Ummm, they are DirectX plug ins. I downloaded mine years ago, they all came in a .EXE file which installed them to wherever I wanted. I am really not sure why they wouldn't work for you.

It should have installed them to \Program Files\Digi-Design\ or Program Files\Steinberg\VSTPlugins

Check those folders. The DLL files should be in there.

Also, since he said they're DirectX plugins, you'll need to enable DirectX effects in Audition (are you using Audition or when it was still Cool Edit?).

Also, make sure those folders are added to your plugins folders in Audition.

Click the Effects -> Refresh Effects List to rescan for the new effects.

They should show up in the list.
