What next to buy?

Hello. I have a Behringer Eurorack MX802 mixer, a Tascam Porta Studio MKII 4 track, a SM-57 and a Nady cheap mic. I play acoustic guitar and sing, with the 57 on the guitar and the cheaper one on vocals. I have this all set up now and working (thanks to advice received here) and now I am reading alot about mics, compressors, and other gadgets. My question is, what should I invest in next? I am on a limited budget but dont mind paying money for good equipment. I'm thinking of a better mic for the vocals or a Behringer Ultra-Voice Pro VX2000. I assume since it has "pro" on it, it isnt very good. Basically, I want to clean up my sound, enhance my voice, etc....with staying analoge. I appreciate your advice...

why do you want to stay analog? not that thats a bad thing...just wondering. Well, if you "don't mind paying for quality" - and want to improve voice..I'd look into a large diaphragm condensor mic maybe. There are lots of posts in the microphone forum about several bargain wonders.

like, the studio projects c1, some marshalls..some rodes..etc. that would probably be a good way to go for you for around 2-300 bucks.

though - personally i would think that spending like 160 bucks on an Audiophile 24/96 soundcard to run your mixer to (instead of the 4 track) - would improve your sound a lot more. (much higher quality and less noise than a 4 track...esp. if you are talking cassette. just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the advice....I have an Imac that will eventually be used for digital taping..but Ill need an outboard device, like a Quatro to get the mixer in since Imacs dont have soundcards. Also, Im looking at Cubasis VST, the entry level program, but it all still seems terribly complicated for me at the moment...Im thinking that at this stage, stay analoge and learn the basics...then transfer the stuff later.....after I spend the moeny. What do you think?
