This is a song that I worked on and walked away from because I couldn't develop a lead for it. It's a great song idea. Listen and take a stab at giving me some ideas. One thing though, it is what it is. I don't have the instruments I used to create it anymore (JP8080, JV1080), so I can't modify the basic sounds or eliminate tracks.

I was thinking along the lines of electric violin as a lead instrument, but be creative!

That cut to the begining is terrible! This sounds like it wants to go somewhere but it might be too lazy or something. There are some out of whack notes where stuff is out of time.

If you ask me I think it needs some soul or energy, a purpose. It kind of just burbles about.
Kind of interesting but this is something I would leave behind. Try a new song.

I liked all the sounds apart from that little cowbell thing going all the way through.

The piece itself seems to meander along without reaching any kind of climax. It reminded me very much of mood music between scenes in a movie

It's not surprising that it sounds a lot like background mood music, because I write only instrumental tracks. I'm not against scrapping the tune, but there's somethig about it that I like. I'll see what other comments come in before giving up.

Thanks guys.

Violin over landscape ...

I've just made a post where I'm playing violin-fiddle within the alternative-rock-america genre here, if you are interested in violin for your work, here's a sample of some of the things I do with violin https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?threadid=93953 .

yeah, I could hear a Jean Luc Ponty type of stretching out on this bed o' music.

Violin coming in and out, alternating with very aggressive motifs that answer elements in the piece like the mini-orchestral hits, and then some long legato almost minimalist figures in places. There's certainly room for a fixed idea displayed in the violin as a minimalist figure throughout the piece.

But I see it as a kind of 'tone poem' more than anything else, a 'landscape' of music like Lt. Bob's Rain thing.

An aggressive lead violin would necessecarily dominate the whole thing, I hear some things in it. It lends itself more to my compositional style rather than a 'jam' style.

Actually, this could be video game music ...
