If you can wait a little while I would suggest you take a good look at the tascam DM-24. It is due out around spring this year. I read a very promising preview in December's EQ mag. Some specs are(all standard): 24/96 capability, 24 channels TDIFin/out, ADAT optical in/out, 2 AES/EBU in/out, 2 stereo SPDIF in/out, 16 xlr ins(each with insert and line in), and, of course, internal effects and 2 expansion slots. From the short preview it seems to be worth a look, especially with its's suggested retail price of $2,999.
