im looking to get mics for vocals an acoustic guitar and an electric guitar. im trying to stay under $300 for each mic but i am willing to spend more. thanks for any suggestions.

deermetal, a classic choice for the electric guitar is the Shure SM57. You'll get better advice if you tell us;

1) Would a condenser microphone be just for your vocals or
others?
2) What style of music are you recording?
3) What model of mixer and/or mic pre are you using?
4) Are you making group recordings or just solo?

You get the idea...

For accoustic guitar, a pair of Oktava mc012's will do nicely. For electric, an sm57. For vocals, it depends on your personal taste. A Rode nt1000 or a Studio Projects C1 can be had within your range if you like brighter-sounding mics. If you're not in to the whole hypey high-end gook, then I'd say a shure sm7 would be a great one to have around for $300 or so, for example.

vocals: SP B1 $80
acoustic: MXL 603s $75
electric: SM 57 $80.

what's that $235? that'll cover all your bases quite well and will always be nice to have around even after you've upgraded to other mics.

PS. If you NEED to spend $300, get an AT 3035 for $150 from fullcompass instead of the B1 (it's a great deal) :)
