What makes a good recording room ?

Totally subjective. I mean you read up on some old recordings that are considered masterpieces today and you will find a lot of rooms that most guys would probably scratch their heads at.

I can say with fairly certain authority what SUCKS when you go into a room:

A square: like in most houses with small bedrooms ranging from 11x11x8 to 13x13x8 these rooms suck, they just do. Listen to them empty and it just SUCKS. haha The reverberent characture of these types of rooms (carpeted or not) just sound hallow and shitty. Sucks the life out of everything (used to be in an apartment with a bunch of these kinds of rooms). The more perfect the square the shittier it is.

One that resonates at a higher low midrange frequency. Stupid rooms (small) that fucking rattle when the bass player plays the A string. SUCKS.

When I mention the above rooms, I talking about when they are empty. It's terrible.
