What make of laptop to get?

I'm curious if anyone runs thier studio from a laptop, or play out with a laptop. I'm looking to get into playing live + remote recording. It's definately gonna be a P.C. cause I'm using sonar as the sequencer. I'm also gonna run a bunch of the N.I. stuff plus probably reason and abelton. I'm just not sure which makes would be stable. I've heard the sony viao is good, but I'm wondering if getting a dell, wiping the hard drive and just running music on it would work. Any ideas?
 
Determine which soundcard you want to use with your laptop, then ask the soundcard manufacturer what laptop they guarantee to work with their products
 
I'm gonna use the motu896 firewire. Are there usually any conflicts with firewire or is it a pretty straight shot?

From what I've heard, with MOTU stuff and Windows, it's never a straight shot.

If you want to use MOTU, get a Powerbook.
