I've been playing bass for over 15 years now, and guitar for almost a week :)

On bass when I use a pick (very seldom) I use a dunlop nylon pick .88 mm.
I always prefer the feel of nylon pick to the ones made out of plastic.

I was wondering if there is a difference in sound?
Is .88mm to big for guitar? I guess not it seem to play fine to me!

What kind of picks do you guys use?

Ibanez..

I'm partial to the Ibanez Grip Wizard picks.. they have either rubber dots or sand for grips.. the sand works better, the rubber dots fall off.. anyway.. I play bass too.. I like 2mm for bass.. but for guitar I use 1-1.8mm.

Fender 351 heavies and extra heavies, in white (they're easier to see when they fall on the floor).

Mainly use it on my acoustics. I'm not sure it's great for bass, being wood and all, but they have a special bass one.

I also use the Ibanez ones with rubber grippies, me and my sweaty hands. Those rubber dots tend to fall/scratch off. Mediums.

Fingerpicking is where it's at.

Odessa, Clayton or Claxton, all in nylon, min thickness 42, max thickness 65. I like the rounded three corner style ( not triangle), I play off the sides of the pick a lot but when I need a point there is always one in easy reach. I used to use really thick ones but now stick to a more medium thickness, they seem to have more of a crispness to their sound.

The yellow Tortex ones. They have the little turtle on em. That's the gauge I like, and I like em cause they're not the common shiny plastic ones that fall right of my fingers.

the orange tortex. been using that pick a long time now.

Well I normally use the JD .73mm ones, but I'm liking the sound of those Ibanez rubber grip ones.

I settled on using that same Dunlop 88 nylon myself, when I do use a pick. It suits me just fine.

For guitar: Pink Tortex
For lead when recording: purple tortex
For bass: purple tortex
If I can I use the most overused filed down pick I have...that is until the sofa eats it.

Those cool green Dunlops with the Alligators on 'em.
1.5 mm

Green Dunlop Tortex for both electric and Bass.........Red ones for acoustic though. :)

Dunlop 421P Ultex Picks 1.14:
- Electric
- Accoustic
- Bass

After about 25 years of playing, these are the best picks that I've played. No slop, great grip and they improve my accuracy.

Pickboy reefer picks on electric, whatever is handy for acoustic.
