What kind of heads does everyone use?

Just a curious question. I just replaced my vintage 70's Ludwig kit, with a new Pearl kit. And rather than just wail on it outta the box (which I'm dying to do), I'm piecing everything together, bit by bit. Just bought all my hardware, adding cymbals next. And was curious as to what everyone's using for heads.

My Ludwigs had Evans G4s on the bass drums, Aquarian Weather treated on the snare, Evans G2 on all toms, and Remo Pinstripe Ebony all resonant sides (Ala Lars Ulrich Justice For All days).

i use evans g1 on the snare, aquarian performance II on all the toms and the stock (remo) kick head with a click pad.

The evans g1 gives off nice overtones and other characteristics that make for a good acoustic sound.

The aquarians pII give a deeper more muffled sound on the toms... they limit unwanted overtones quite nicely and can be tuned down til the head it practically lose (the lugnuts are loose) and it still sounds good. I tune my floor tom real loose to get a deeper sound and it works great.

If you like a more modern (click) sound for the kick drum, I recommend getting a click pad. Its just a small round disc you put on the kick where the beater hits, if you didnt know.

I got the aquarians for a deal price on musiciansfriend and I bought the evans g1 at a local store for about 15-17$.

I also use a wooden plated beater for the kick, which really helps define the clicky sound.

I use Evans G2s for the batter side on the toms. Genera Resonants for the resonant side. I have an Evans EMAD on the kick. Sounds good as shit.. but the little rings come out if you play really hard like I do. I have and Aquarian Superkick Resonant with a hole in it on the resonant side of the kick. The snare.. I use whatever. I have an Evans Power Center or something now. Remo Ambassador Hazy on the snare side.

I need new heads. Their dead after three months.

i have a pearl export select and im using evans g2 coated as batter heads (fusion sizes) and g1 clear as resonants. the snare is a genera hd dry batter and remo ammbassator resonant. the kik still has the stock head but i hav a remo fat slam patch and an old credit card 2 add extra click and punch. theres no resonant head on the kik but its dampend with a very hi tech state of the art ...... pillow from my bed!

I use Remo Pinstripes on my tom batters, Ambassador clears on the resos. On my snare I have an EmporerX batter, the stock snare side head, and on my kick are the stock heads, heavily dampened.

While head choice depends on the drum, style of music, etc - for most of my gigging I use Evans G2's on toms (batter side) and G1's (resonant side). The last fw years I've been using Evans Emad on the kick batter (although I also like the Aquarian Super Kick). I love the Evans vented snare heads.

For recording, I prefer G1's to G2's on the tom batter side.

I'm a fan of Aquarian Studio X heads on my toms, but I have a hard time finding them in stock in my area.
