 I bought a BR8 and now I am ready to get into computer recording. I'll be buying a new computer for this. I was thinking PC with a usb for input using Motu or Tascam. I'm going 1Gig of ram but am wondering what speed Hard-drive and what type. Is scsi required? The reason I ask is because I've been going to sites (Dell, Alien etc.) and customizing machines, The price seems to go up every time I reconfigure. Also what Audio Progs should I get. I want to record at 24 bit 96khz and be able to make and use loops and import samples directly from CDRoms. Thanks For Your Help, Pete

Hi Reflexa and welcome to this BBS

For my opinion scsi is not needed. You can manage with two IDE 7200 rpm Harddrives. One for a systemdisk and the other one dedicated just for audio.

When going the PC -rout for me there would be two ways to go with the software: Cakewalk or Cubase. Some guys would also advise you to go with N-tracks or Cool edit pro but I'm not familiar with those software.

One last tip: USE the search engine of this BBS. It is one of the most powerfull tools in the world that will help you to get in to this recording schait...

You're not alone out here.
