I want to learn how to make my own cables and need some in excess of 25 feet, so I figured buying a bundle and learning how would be my best bet. Question is, what kind of cabling and connectors should I go for? I'll need a few XLR-1/4 TRS's, XLR- to XLR, and a few others as well.

canare cables, and nuetrik connectors.

But those are just suggestions I have heard from other people. I have yet to make cables, it is something I will definately be doing the very near future though.

There are many great cables. But without a doubt, Neutrik plugs are best for the money.

I like Neutrik connectors as well, and they are easy to work with when soldering.

As far as cable, get the good stuff. Even good cable is affordable when buying bare wire in bulk.

I use Canare, Mogami, and Connectronics cable. My advice would be to buy yourself 100-300 meters of Mogami and go from there.

Where is the best/cheapest place to get Carare and/or Mogami cable.

btw, make sure you look for 2 conductor, shielded (preferably with a braided shield)...that's probably the most common cabling you'll find.

Farview, I buy raw cable and connectors from fullcompass.com. If you search, you may find individual items cheaper here or there, but overall I like their prices on this kind of stuff.
