it's an upside down one of these:

Now I'm curious - what the hell is it? My guess is that it's a guitar tuner of some sort... just a guess. Is it from the 1966 LaFayette catalog?

Poke it with a stick and see if it moves!

Nobody knows?

At first i thought it was some type of preamp. Then a ridiculous looking tuner.
Now I have no clue.
I dont even know why I want to know what it is.
I just know that I need to.

:cool::D

The red light looks like it could possibly be the strobe part of a tuner.

You'd think those guys could afford a new one from Musician's Friend... times are tough. :(

hmmm...my first guess is that it is a preamp of some sort. A lot of folks don't care for the onboard distortion on the Roland JC-120, so that may be a preamp for OD/Distortion. I'd guess the top two knobs are Gain and Volume and the bottom set are tone controls.

2nd guess...Lot's of alternative/artsy folks like the JC, so it could be an effects/modulation box. I don't think it's a tuner because there are so many knobs on it.

What do we win if we guess right?? :D

............ hang on..I'll find it.

Looks damn close to a Peterson 420 Strobe Tuner.

Now that Teysha led the way, a quick google search shows a 520

i cant believe he's tuning up in the doctors surgery....

Speaking of which, just send one to the Doc.....
Honestly, I'm getting a bit dissapointed with half the VST plugins I download, thinking/hoping they will answer problems for me for $0.

Of course, I can't tell if it's the VST or something I am doing wrong but...

When I plug my guitar into my tuner, it just works.

When I plug through into tune-it VST, it seems to be indicating a B when I am clearly hitting the E string. My real tuner says it's an E and the online guitar tuner at Gieson is telling me I'm hitting an E - so why would this VST be playing up so badly? It's just a tuner! I wouldn't have thought it were rocket science!?

And for anyone interested in non essential information, just have a gander at page 26 of this obscure catalogue.......

I thought it was a toaster.

You know how guitarists are about crumpets while they're gigging... :laughings:
