What is it and what's it worth?

This is outside my normal area of music, I'm a guitarist so I figure someone here might can help me out. Recently I managed to acquire a Korg Poly 800 keyboard (synthesizer?) for very little money. I didn't need the thing but I almost got it for nothing thinking I could trade/sell it for something of more use to me. My problem is that I'm not sure what it is, what it does, or what it's worth. I don't want to ask too much for it if it isn't worth much but I don't want to shortchange myself either. From plugging it up and playing with it, it seems to work and appears in good condition, I don't know what it is designed to do so I can't be certain but it does produce quite an array of sound so I guess it works. If anyone is familiar with one or has any idea of what it might be worth, please let me know. I'd far rather see someone put it to use instead of it setting around collecting dust. Thanks in advance.

[EDIT] Someone beat me to it!

I`ve given one away and traded one. They make a good instrument to learn basics of sound synthesis, midi, and envelope or filter manipulation on. Otherwise, a $50 Casio would blow them out of the water for sonic value.

Hey! Don't knock the P800! Back in the day, that flute sound (preset 1.4)
seemed incredible. Hasn't aged well, though...

Mine cost me £50. Can't believe they're going for $800.00!!!!!

not knocking what it could do back when it was a mainstream synth. like I said, I've had had two. When I bought a DSS-1 , well, what would you need a Poly for?

The 800 was OK but the Poly-6 and -61 which came earlier were much better, but besides that the 800 still had a certain charm about it, which exuded Cheesy Fun.

The last 2 or 3 800's I've seen sold in local shops went for about $200 USD.

Thanks a lot guys, I feel a lot better now seeing as I only gave $20 US for it.

Yeah, I used to love messing around with the step sequencer :)
