ASIO drivers (Audio Streaming Input Output) are developed by Steniberg, the makers of Cubase.
They are pieces of software that allows an ASIO compatible application (like Cubase, or Spark) to work with an ASIO compatible hardware (like the Digi 001).
If you don't have them you couldn't use that combo.
The good thing about the ASIO drivers is that they reduce latency. Think of them as an enhanced version of Microsoft's or Apple's sound drivers.
The bad thing is that sometimes they work funny, because is not a standard that everyone likes. I mean, Digidesign has it's own ASIO-like thing, MOTU have MAS, etc... so you see the point.
If you need them download them from Steinberg.
