Can any one recomend a good mic for recording vocals and acustic guitar? Price range does not matter.

You might get a better response if you post this question in the Microphone forum.

That's a pretty general question. You might find what you're looking for just by searching old posts in that forum.

yea get a condenser and a dynamic then. AKG414 and Shure SM57. that'll do the trick for just about everything.

Yea if price doesn't matter go with any hundred thousand dollar tube mic you can get your hands on.

Rode NT1000 about $350

Audio Technica 4047 about $600

....either one of those into an HHB Radius 40, ART Pro Channel, Mindprint Envoice, etc. should do the job for not much over a grand.

Plug your guitar directly into the recorder or a mic pre and buy a Yorkville mic. They make two modes; I own the cheaper one, less than 200 pezzutos. It works fine.

Also, once I had a good bass player, a friend, do some lines for a cut I had recorded. I ran his plug into my Gallian Kruger Amp through a by-pass-the speaker circuit and then into the recorder.

Great take. Easy to regulate the volume. As you know, guitar and bass don't need much amplification.

To mic bass or guitar through a speaker requires much more work than I care to do.

dude, it depends what your recording! if you're recording with a digital home studio (roland etc...) then try a AKG C-3000 condencer mike !! geat for vocals and acustic guitar . priced around $300.00 bucks. yea a shure sm-57 or 58 are o.k. but don't use them for vocals ever if you can avoid it. they are better suited for amps and live stage ..

Good Mic???

Theres really no hard and fast rule, but for the most part, if you can't get it done with a Shure SM-57, then it may not be able to be done at all!!!!!! ;) Steve

If price does not better and you want the best hand-build microphone there is, InnerTube Audio's MagMike beats them all.
Hand build in Santa Barbara by Stayne, it features almost line-level output, infinately variable polar pattern, and an unbelieveable dynamic range. Price is around the $4000, with a lifetime warrenty.
I have never used my U47's since I got the Mag, it just batters them.
