I got this new direct bass box (sansamp direct bass driver)..When I first turned it on, it sounded awesome coming through the monitors...definately thick and fat...just the tone I was looking for. So...the box is there...it definately rocks.
But, when I recorded it in nuendo...(24bit)...it sounded totally different than what was coming out of the monitors just playing it live.
I have the bass plugged into the box, the box going XLR into the aardvark card...and the aardvark hooked to the monitors. So, the signal when I am playing it live, is going through the aardvark preamps and everything - it should be the same signal that is recorded...same level and everything? but it isn't..
It was like...muddy...and distant...and...totally different frequency response....just bad...
So, I don't get it. If it would have recorded exactly what was coming out of the monitors while I was dialing in the tone...then I'd be jumping up and down about it...
which kind of makes me think maybe I have a bigger problem here? What do you guys think I could change...do differently..etc.
If that's as good as a digital recording can do with an analog sound (obviously it isn't...plenty of great digital recordings out there) then that sucks. Supposed to get out exactly what you put in eh...hmm, not happening for me right now...thoughts?
