I suffer Narcoleptic Rage
...write a song about it! Sorry guys, just trying to get outta this rut and this event was inspiring...

All events portrayed in these lyrics are real, only the names have been changed to protect the innocent. (namely me!)

"Broken wing"

Verse:

She found a bird on her way to work
She held it gently because it looked hurt
A broken wing and a state of feathered disarray
She brought it right home in much the same way
She has cages to spare and regarding comfort
Im sure the poor thing couldn’t complain
Out there with the cats on that old country lane

Chorus:

She warned her kids to look but don’t play
But if that poor bird had known what lay ahead
It’d probably said “Fuck flying! I’m making a
Run for it instead!”

Verse:

She claimed it ate berries, you know
Vegetarian kind of stuff.
She mentioned pine cones and elderberry
And an assortment of nuts
And even a few bugs she thought she could catch
All things she had learned
Searching google on the internet
She just rolled her eyes and started to fret
When I suggested she might take it to the vet

<Repeat Chorus:>

Bridge:

Well its been 3 days and I really couldn’t say
Whether it was the worms she was feeding it
Or maybe the children at play.
But the girl watching her kids just called here to say
That sometime in the night her bird passed away

<Repeat Chorus:>

That's pretty damn good man.......I especially like the chorus "fuck flying, I'm makin a run for it"

Hi there -

The Lyrics were generally good. to me, the subject is novel enough, and I expected the song to go in one of two directions-

1) My gf brought home a lame bird which the cat ate
2) My gf brought home an injured bird and helped it - what a cutie she is, (hopefully she will do the same for me when I am old)

The thing is, I am not sure which one of these two main directions you were taking.

Overall, I liked the choice of words, rythm, rhyme, but the overall direction was a bit unclear...

I hope this helps!

...tastes just like chicken...to my belly it's stickin'...instead of the high dollar vet...I got me a table to set...

heh...glad you guys liked it...it was pretty refreshing writing it.

As to the story fab, its really unclear as to how the bird died...I was trying to set up the various ways it might've died in each verse and the birds perspective in a short chorus and sum it all up in the bridge, presenting the facts, ie; as soon as the kids were left alone with the sitter the bird died.

There was also a point where her and her mechanic father fashioned some kinna splint out of a hair clip thing that I prolly shouldve made into a third verse, ya know the shock of the operation and all...keep in mind this is all told to me over the course of 3 days...cept the call from the sitter, she was here for that lol.

The deep message in this song is how each err...stanza? begins with SHE because it really wasnt about saving the bird or she'd have taken it to the free vet I suggested where it could get some real care and a chance of survival...it was about her own selfish enjoyment derived from having an injured bird to care for...

hmm...maybe I analyze my songwriting too much...

thanks a bunch for your comments guys!

I found a bird under a wattletree and tried to nurse it back to health. It died when my Dad fed it his bad instant coffee...I think either the bird preferred a more expensive type of coffee, or it was terminal anyway.

The bird's name was Herbie. There have been no songs written about him at this time.

(Your lyrics are very refreshing by the way :D )

It just goes to show ya, tunes can be inspired from almost any event or thing.

I'm working on the "Chips Ahoy Blues". :D

Dude!

I LOVE it!

When you get it put to music you GOTTA post! LOL

I wrote a song about my dick once... course I was really really stoned at the time... wonder what ever happened to that lyric sheet...
