I play solo bass pieces using a Looperlative looper, a rackmount looper that runs on MIDI (I control it with a Nobels floor controller- I do everything hands-free). I'd like to get a drum machine or sampler to play along with, but what I'd like is one that will automatically adjust its tempo to the loop I currently am playing with my looper.
My old Boss RC-20XL had a function like this- as soon as you finished recording your loop, the Boss would detect the tempo and automatically begin playing a beat based on the tempo of the loop. I'd basically like to play a phrase on my bass, loop it, then turn on the sampler/drum machine with a MIDI footswtich when I want a beat to come in and have whatever pre-set drum loop I have recorded adjust its tempo to the incoming loop and play. What I'd need is to be able to set this all to happen before playing, and be able to have these tempo adjustments happen immediately and hands-free during the performance. Is there a device that can do this?
Sorry for my lack of knowledge on the subject- while I do use a MIDI-based looper and effects unit (Boss VF-1), I'm a MIDIOT at heart.
