What does your guitar REALLY sound like? An experiment.

and it might surprise you but I have absolutely no problem getting pinch harmonics anywhere I want them but, as far as I can tell, I do it differently that others do because of the uncommon way I hold my pick.
I have to ..... well, hmmmm .... I can't actually describe it ........ but I can do it.
That's sorta strange.
And I actually make several open chords different than almost anyone else.
Too much acid in college I suppose.
:)

Nah, I'm not surprised - it's more in the way you follow your pick with your thumb to get 'em - I just find it comes easier for me with the pointy end.:)

Actually, not that surprised. It's a lot harder for me to get those with a new pick, but once I've worn it down to more of an equilateral triangle (sorry), I often hit them when I'm not even trying.

oh i loooove zombie eater by faith no more, sorry just had to say that. cool experiment i am trying to listen to them all now.
Meeeee too. One of my favorite songs. All I gotta say is they better do more shows here in the US than just friggin' California.

Let me rephrase something I said earlier. Let's say tone is a function of six variables....

What ever happened to just strumming it unplugged...I refuse to bring a slide rule and scientific calculator to pick out a guitar.

One of the reasons I love that Variax of mine right now is that it smashes most theories listed here...they all literally sound the same...even with variables involved.

+1 for using the rounded corners of a pick.

Creates a more complex tone than using the pointy end, IMHO.

Easier to do pinch harmonics with that technique too.

The OP is wasting his time with this stuff and the argument. Nobody is ever gonna use tracks recorded like that, and nobody is ever gonna play live like that either.

So don't. I don't either, I was merely describing what would be required to perform such analysis.

No, actually the Variax proves the theories here, otherwise the models wouldn't work to the extent that they do.
