Does it just mean make? Dumb question, I know, it's just been getting under my skin whenever I see stuff with MKII and MKIII. Why don't I ever see MKIV or above? Why no MKI? Thanks!
Except, Massive, that the second variant of the Spitfire (the first with a variable speed prop) was called the Mk 1a. The Mark 2 never went into service. Then they went all the way up, via variants such as the VIIb, to Mark 29.
I used to know, but I think MARK is a German word that means "point of reference" or something along those lines. In computer language is would be "version".
