Oh hell yes you ARE gonna' listen, lmao.

Man, I can tell I rubbed you the wrong way with that; that's just b/c I'm a dickhead.

NO I'M NOT GOING TO FUCKING LISTEN TO THIS PIECE OF SHIT EVER AGAIN! I'M LEAVING THIS PLACE AND NEVER COMING BACK YOU MEANIE.

just kidding. i'm not rubbed, shaken, or stirred. just don't want to get into another autotune discussion with anyone ever again. and i certainly don't want to be the one to start another autotune flame fest.

someone go flatten the smile and finish this bitch. it's a great song.

apologies to all for the foul language. i'm very tired.

NO NO NO NO NO...I absolutely LIVE for autotune debates...DON'T TAKE THIS FROM ME!!!

Oddly, I don't think I've ever been flamed in the clinic...well, there was that one guy, but that was based more on merit than on any autotune controversy, lol.

I love music...I think I'll go make some. :D

The mix is my fault. I did this latest one with the stupid headphones on. I have a little house and a little girl so I can't be loud late. I was more trying to correct the vocal levels on this one, I don't consider it done yet. There's been no "mastering" done at all. It's just my fucked up ears. Really though, there isn't much EQ going on either. I did bring up some lows, after about 5 people in the last thread told me there wasn't enough. I'm still getting the hang of this. After all, I've only done four songs since I got a computer at home. I didn't figure Jake-owa would like this one. It has a chorus. I'm going to wait a day or two before I screw with the mix anymore, because I've heard this song way too many times to have any idea what's going on any more.

Hey, I'm not against any brand of music outright.

I've no predjuices.

That's smart.

The "smiley face" EQ makes sense, btw...even if you didn't really EQ this mix. My ears are telling me that the "highs" that seem prominent are almost all coming from the kit (I damned sure didn't give you a very bright vocal, lol)...and you said you boosted the lows. Net Effect = Smiley face. But the good news is that none of your instruments are suffering from a fucked up EQ ('cept maybe the vocal I sent you, lol)...so it's just a matter of turning the brass down on the kit a bit (I have no idea how easy or hard that is on a drum machine, btw...if it's a pain, then tell us and we'll pass on the magic EQ and compression settings for drums that you're usually not privy to until you've posted 8 songs. :D

I won't post it here man, but since you're sick of it, I'm gonna' take a quick shot at just tinkering with this with filters...it'll save you some time, even if I don't make it sound any better... (i.e., you'll know what NOT to try).

This place just won't be the same when mbuster, jake, crawdad, and me don't have 12 posts in 8 different songs on the front page, lmao.

I'm still waiting for that second query from someone else about how I record my acoustics, btw. :D

Hey Chris it's been a while, can you rehash?
How DO you record your acoustics?

Just don't tell me you use autoyouknowwhat on them!:D

Hey Pete...I just hook up whatever mic I happen to have not loaned out to somebody, run it through the DMP3 preamp, straight to the soundcard.

Whatever happens next kind of depends on the role that the particular guitar is playing, but most of the time it involves some variant soft knee compression, followed by massive cuts in the lows of the guitar. I rarely use reverb except on lead parts, but I've been getting more into chorusing my rhythm git parts lately...it brightens them up in a way that I just sort of like, I guess.

Most important part of recording an acoustic guitar, I think...is remembering to put new strings on the guitar before hitting the "Record" button, agree?

Hey, Chris. I tried to duplicate that guitar sound you posted. That tremolo is hard to match. I got pretty close though. If that's going to be your signature sound, Your songs are all going to sound the same, though. Oh wait...........

Most definitly!
Guess I'm going to have to stop buying a new pair every 6 months!
I'ts those darn Elixers,they last forever!:D

Sorry to dig this up from the 3rd page but I thought it rocked.

Great vocal tracking, band sounds glued together. The bottom seemed to be missing a bit of punch at times, but that's being pretty picky.

This song has, wait for it..."lilt"...and it came through in the mix, nice job.
