What do you think of this setup?

Hey,
This is the recording setup/studio I am considering putting together. Any feedback on it would be appreciated.

Digidesign Digi 002 Rack with Pro Tools 7
Presonus DigiMax LT 8 Input Pre Amp (connected to Digi 002 through lightpipe)
Custom built computer specifically built to run Pro Tools
Shure Microphones including KSM27, SM81, SM57, SM58, Beta 52 Bass Drum Mic
Sennheiser Microphones including MD421 MKII U4 Microphone

Let me know what you think of that setup.

Looks kinda ok to me. But just a question...did you decide for this setup based on personal taste of because it looks good on paper..

reason i'm asking is: if you're gonna buy, buy stuff YOU like. 5 good gadgets won't guarantee a good signal.

Those are all nice gadgets, the presonus i've never heard so i can't judge.

A very wise decision is to always buy pairs of mics. 57's you can't have enough...58 is a strange studio choice. Nothing wrong with the mike but all musicians recognise it as the vocalist mic on stage...though they have no idea what they are talking about, the will look conspicious if put on in instrument (assuming you won't use if for vocals which would be...well kinda undone unless you're a hitselling artist with great knowledge of mic handling)
