What do you think of this set up?

Ibook 12" 512Mb ram, 40GB
Digiflex mix cable 25" black
Shure dym. mic beta? or something like that
Kam mic stand
PreSonus firepod interface

I'd start with more RAM and an external hard drive (since I don't think you can buy an iBook with a 7200 RPM drive).

I don't know anything about Kam mic stands. If you already have it, use it, but otherwise, I'd probably point you towards a Tama.

I assume you meant 25' rather than 25" on the mic cord. A 2.08 foot mic cable won't even reach to the end of the mic boom. :D

What are you planning to record with that microphone?

dgatwood, have you seen the Hercules stands? I have a three guitar Hercules stand and it is the most awesome stand I have ever used or seen! The microphone stands look to be about the same quality! I have two On Stage stands, they are ok, but nothing spectacular...

I was going to say that I'd never heard of them, but then I looked down at my electric bass stand. Guess I have. :D

Well, as I like to put it, one of the best signs of a well-built piece of gear is that you never realize you're using it.... If a piece of gear actually catches my attention at a conscious level, that usually means I want to throw it through a window.... ;)

But seriously, no I haven't seen their mic stands. They do clearly build some rather decent guitar stands, though, so it wouldn't surprise me if their mic stands also didn't suck.
 
I bought two of their boom stands to use for overheads for my drum kit !

these truly DO NOT ROCK !! and that's a good thing !!! :D





PreSonus FirePod !!! :) Sounds like your gonna need about 7 more mic's !! :eek: I plan to get one myself , that or the Mackie 400F !! :confused:
