I'm new to this forum. I came here to get some feedback on the videos I have uploaded onto youtube. Sometimes i listen to them and think I am good, other times I think I am awful hahaha. Please be honest, even if you think you are being harsh.

Hi Ricky, and welcome.

Did you forget to post you link?
The forum won't let you post an active one just yet, but copy and paste the "/" info for your youtube channel and I'll pop it on the thread for you.

No probs. :)

Perfect in the low parts, out of your range in the high parts. Transpose it down a few steps so you can sing the whole thing.

Hi Ricky,
I thought you were mostly sharp throughout.
You have a nice enough tone of voice, and you were right often enough for me to think you can sing.

The problem could be as simple as the backing track being too low for you to follow properly, or you could just need some practice.

If you think you struggle a little with melodies, learn to play the tune on a keyboard then practice singing+playing it much slower than the recording.
If you play the melody on the keys and sing at the same time it's often much easier to hear where you're going wrong.

A lot of the time it's just confidence too. Often I'll just hit any note on a keyboard and ask the singer to sing it, but LOUD and PROUD from the get go. No sliding up or down to the note, no fading into it; That's the key.
Usually they start off weak and very self conscious, but after I've made them do it for ten or twenty different notes things really come together.
You kinda get annoyed and just go "AAAAAHHHHH" THERE'S YOUR NOTE! lol.

Hope that doesn't sound too critical. :)

Yeah what Steen said.
Even as a vocalist, you can slide into your notes, however you must also define the pitch of that note.
You're wandering as you're searching for your notes now.
Your range is perfect for the song, you just need to know where to go pitch wise as you go for a note.
Nice tone to your voice, not squeaky and just hefty enough

Oh and Practice.

Thanks for the replies, your comments were better than I was expecting!

Could anyone recommend and any songs to cover that would suit my voice? I have been practising with the songs I have on youtube and also too close by alex clare and ordinary people by john legends.
