What do you think of MIDI?

Okay, this is geeking out to the nth degree. I mean, jeez, everyone knows the hardcore sounds come from Cobalt.
I think maybe you mean COBOL? :) Nah, it's a bitch getting good didgeridoo sounds with a stream of "PIC 99" statements :D.

I really miss the "warmth" of CICS when I hear Spring/Hibernate.

No, I meant Cobalt. COBOL, COmmon Business-Oriented Language would sound terrible, it's totally for bean counters. I know COBOL, my neighbor just retired fairly well off from being one of the dying breed of COBOL programmers, which Wells Fargo still uses, and they paid him well to keep their mainframes happy.
Cobalt, on the other hand, is a much more trendy, hip language favored by Palm programmers amungst others.

And it's phase inversion! :D

Hey, Glen...your age is showing

:p
You're right. I should mention how hip and trendy I am with my (now long forgotten) fluency in RPG II and 8080 Assembler. Sucked for modeling rooms on a stereo convolution reverb, though. ;) :D

Ah, OK, not my thing. The day I need to carry a portable computer with me wherever I go is the day I need to sit down and sincerely re-evaluate where I went wrong with my life. :p ;)

My main problem with most MIDI drums is the clicking typewriter sound of the hihat's! That's a dead giveaway, you can sometimes get away with MIDI & good samples for the rest of the kit.

Only way around this is to use loops of sampled hihat patterns, that I know of anyway? I was actually thinking of buying a hihat & stand at one time I doing the hihats myself! I'm only a guitarist / bass player BTW!

I prefer to pay a drummer to play on the tracks even with the cost, I spent too much time programming the drums & was good enough at it but was never happy mainly because of the problems mentioned above!

A real good drummer will find a performance & patterns to go with you song much quicker than you will, save yourself the hassle & concentrate on the rest of the song!
