I hate the term retro, but don't really know what to call it. So give it a listen and tell me what you think of either Po Po or Africa. The Ashburies Thanks!

I`m diggin this, very classic sounding...
Good job on the guitars and vox, "the vox might have a just a touch to much distrotion"...

The overheads are not clear and I think theire to loud.
Bring the kick up a bit., in fact the kit is better sounding on africa, then on po po.

The bass could also use some fattening, and a lift in volume.

great music and preformance though :)

Thank you. The drums were recorded with one overhead (MXL V67G) directly over the kit and then a room mic in the middle of the room sent through a old fender amp for distortion and reverb. The room mic kind of swallowed the sound of the overhead though :(

man i love that rhythm guitar sound :D
when the other instruments come in it sounds a bit cluttered... it sounds like the highs on the drums are coving up the lead guitar some. Maybe you could try a EQ just to reduce the high high frequencies and see how that sounds.

The vocals are cool, this is a fun tune!

i agree with the nakaman on the bass, it could definitely come up some...

yeah, nice classic sound on the song... love the vocals and feel of the track. Good job ;)

I listened to Africa.....cool tune. Seems a bit bright. Lots of highs, that seem to bury some of the lows. You might try and drop the higher frequencies a few db, and see if that fattens the mix up. I love the vibe of the song, and the way it's performed. Very good.

I dig your sound. 60's garage rock..Do you listen to The Brian Jonestown Massacre? If you don't, check them out. In regards to the mix, I would have to agree with some of the other comments. The drums sound tinny in the overheads, with not much low end to give some more cojones. A few more mics on the drums would do wonders.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. I think what your hearing as far as the cluttered high end is the room mic which sounds awesome alone and gives the song a cool feel but I just can't get it to sit quite right in the mix. Yeah I have to work on the drum sound, any suggestions on mic placement to get a nice tight retro sound without to much bleed?

P.S. The Brian Jonestown Massacre are my favorite band!

Thanks. The guitarist would like you to know that this tone was achieved by running his guitar through an old broken stereo receiver.

That's pretty cool, tell him he's got it going on :D

I'm listening to Africa now, another groovy classic style tune here. It does sound a bit too high end though, the rest of the music seems to get in the way of the vocals a bit creating a bit of clutter... it'd sound a better if you can create a bit more seperation between the vocals and the instruments.

Another fun tune though
