Yellow screen
Small screen
Takes ages to eq (give me analog control please)

Learning how to use it, I wish they'd make a Dummies guide to VS880ex recording :)

Editing, editing, editing, editi... you get the idea.

That screen is bad too.

Well, my main beef with my 880 EX is that I don't have another one...

Seriously, I don't really mind the small screen, or any of the other things mentioned here. I just make sure my levels are right before I start to record, and then I am good to go. What I really, really don't like is the fact that Roland hasn't seen fit to give us the Mastering Trax, like it did for the 1680 (like the 1680 needs two extra trax, right?). I would also like to see 'track import' so that I could compile a 'song of songs' when I burn CDs. Also, not having to wait for the burn conversion process would be nice. This having been said, most of my problems would vanish if I had another EX slaved to mine. Oh well. Maybe, with the release of the 890, I'll be able to get a second-hand 880 EX on the cheap...

Maybe I'm mistaken, but I think I downloaded the master tracking stuff along with a bunch of other stuff from the Roland site.

Also, I bought Datasonics VSPro Toolbox and there is an onscreen mixer with all the effects and EQ's and panning, etc. And the edit screen makes it more like Cakewalk for cutting, moving, scrub, copy, etc. If it weren't for that....well, bummer.

No, the EX has the Mastering Toolkit, and speaker modeling for the D-90's, but it doesn't have the extra two tracks that the 1680 was given.

Is that what it was? I haven't gotten around to using it yet. It's only been about 8 months ago? Maybe in a couple of years I'll get to it. I'm terrible. :D
It's just that Cakewalk is sooo easy. It's truely a cakewalk.

Yeeeehaaaaa! I finally found it in the manual!

Hey, guys, this is a big scoop; the hottest technical question over on The Planet.

Open your VS880ex manual to page 19. Look at item 1. Damn, it was there all the time.

You punk...I actually went out back and dug around for my manual and opened it to page 19. You're in big trouble now. ;)

In the Dutch manual I can't see what you mean. What is the subject you're looking at?
Hi Moose, glad to see you back on stage...remember Hano Janssens? It's Hano now.

Cool... I missed ya' Hano.

I like the way you talk, uh-huh... :)

Hey, Hano- of course I remember you. Remember that conversation about the statue that pees?

Anyway- that section of the manual points to the power switch. We were havin' some fun about not knowing where it was when we first joined the Homereckers crew here.

Wazawho? - Mooseboy,
That is real a comfort.
And don't forget to say:
"No ansjovis please" (as quoted from J.Geils band - Love Stinks )

That it seems virtually impossible to find out what other cdr will work with this unit. Nothing is listed in any of the manuals or on the sites checked so far. Can anybody say proprietary?

Seems like it's only the Roland CDR. It's actually made by Plextor, so I believe I read some where that you can also use the Plextor 4414. Hope that helps, Iwanna
