What do you guys think of the DBX ProVocal?

I need to buy a midline-inexpensive preamp, and just ran across the ProVocal... It's only $300, has compressor, de-esser, gate, chorus, and reverb. It looks pretty, and so does the price, but have you guys had any experience with it?

That looks too good to be true for that price.

While it looks good on paper, I have to wonder where they "skimped" to get all those goodies into one unit for under $300.

The converters, perhaps?
Poor quality effects?

For the most part, I don't think there's many rack units that can be considered "professional quality" for that price. So when they put the words "Pro Vocal" on there, a little red flag goes up in my mind.

I'm skeptical right now... until proven otherwise.

Anybody own or try one of these, yet?

The provocal was made for the guy who just bought his first sound card, or the guy who sings in a band but doesn't own a mixer. If you aren't that guy, keep looking...
