hello hello

i've come across a great opportunity to buy a delta 1010lt... upgrading from yes, my soundblaster... with a nice interface console breakout box however you wanna call it.

so im seeing the delta... and its just crazy cables all over the place!!
my studio is very HOME studio. i simply mic an amp, and go straight to my soundcard which has a built in pre.

with the 1010lt, i know, i'll have to use a mixer with pre's, thats fine. (apart from the two xlr pres it has).

so what do you do with the cables? they stay behind the pc like that? you just connect to them from the mixer? is there another way to oranize it ?

thanks!

The Delta 1010 lite's dangly dangler does just that - it dangles. Short of turning your PC backwards, you'd have to stretch around the back to connect and disconnect I'm afraid.

Still, I'd happily live with that if it means not having to have the faulty box/PSU which comes with the 1010 'proper'.

And I'd keep the SB in there too - many games don't play right with M Audio cards and also the SB has the standard joystick/MIDI D-connector. (I enjoy recording with Win2000/XP before booting into Win98 or DOS during the break for a go on Super Mario or some other nice favourite!)

ahhh... so thats what a patchbay does. i've always wondered.

ok, so i think i\ll start another thread asking some very simple questions of exactly what i will need to upgrade all my home recording. going from nothing to actually something. and im quite happy.

i intend on actually selling my sb, mickb. because i can get some good money on it here in brazil and then when im in new york, i;ll buy the 1010lt for almost nothing.

ok, off to new thread.

Once you start complaining about all the cables, that's when you're ready for a snake and a patch bay! :D ;)

Those XLRs have pres in much the same way that a SoundBlaster has pres. The first thing I'd do is set the jumpers to turn them off....

I think the cabling is the least serious issue with any of the 1010's.
