Of course I know this attitude still exists with alot of people, and alot of blacks felt like they needed to band togather before and during the civil rights movement when things were tough for them... But nowadays thats just reinforcing the segregation that everybody is trying to move away from. And that would be exactly the kind of attitude that would not get you hired for a job. I agree. I think it would do a great deal to buffer alot of the remaining problems. Blacks have seen a rut from the the segregated times. And on the whole for all the money that black people havent earned and would have been earning now if things had been equal in the past, white people probablly picked up that extra money. The extra money that blacks would have earned. So I dont see a few dollars going out of the tax payers pockets as a problem. It would be fair I think. It may be hard for some people to make the complicated connection though that they would have made slightly less money anyways had blacks been getting the jobs they deserved earlier on.

I got accepted to Xavier in New Orleans which was the college I WANTED to attend.

Their admissions department had to be the most un professional group of jack asses ive EVER known.

I didnt go to the white college because i wanted to be there.

Xavier fuckin lost my application 4 or 5 times during a 6 month period and when they finally accepted me they lost my financial aid info most times they laughed at the way my parents spoke because we had them yankee accents meanwhile its fuckin May and im supposed to be attending school in august...meanwhile the cutoff date is 3 months earlier when id already applied and they lost my financial aid information...so I COULDNT go.

Xavier is the number one school in america for getting minorities accepted into medical school. So of course me wanting to be a physician at the time i wanted to go there plus i love being down south.

However i didnt have alot of money to apply to alot of schools so i applied to 5..

St Josephs in Philadelphia which was my 2nd choice after Xavier.

Xavier which was #1

Fairfield which was #4 on my choice list

LeMoyne College which was #5

RIT in Rochester NY which was #3

i couldnt afford RIT

St Josephs was too much money
and Xavier messed up my financial aid

so i was stuck with Le Moyne, Fairfield I chose Fairfield because they had the second best FA package there.

But i missed Xavier alot however...i didnt know the path before i walked it cross studio.

I didnt have all these relatives to dwell on their experience when it came to college i was the first person in my generation to go to college.

my mom was no help she went to school during that whole liberal white folks wanna be cool era so she just told me about dealing with the students not the professors cuz they were too busy kissin ass in fear of blacks rioting back then

But when i got into the now college era...it was different i was dealing the cronies that had been left behind from that your alright im alright era...they came to the table expecting to see signs of progress that they were convinced they had made during their protesting days...

I hear you. The thing for me is it's too easy for people to claim someone is "holding on to the past," as if they aren't living in the now or looking to the future. For me, there's nothing to "dwell" on, and sadly alot of what I "stand" on was built on that ol' fuck shit.
