Hi
I'm using a pc, and will probaply keep using pc's. Haven't used mac since G3, but at that time I didn't notice the big difference ( except for the price ) my mac crashed just as randomly as my pc. And for some reason, Pulsar seems to be made mainly for pc, though I know there are happy Pulsar/Mac users out there, and right now I'm a not so happy Pulsar/pc user ... but that's a different and very long story I'll spare you for :)
.. by the way ... any Pulsar users around here ?

Do my audio with a PC. (1.5 w/512 ram)
Do my Scanning and color stuff with my old (604e 160mhz) Mac.

macs are outrageously expensive in brazil. and pcs are doing just fine for audio recording, as far as i'm concerned, so i guess i'll stick with pcs for the time being.

there is less of a difference in pc and mac pricing in the usa than there is in brazil, that's for sure. but i guess it happens the same in other countries.

I use PC..

Love it... Runs beautiful with my Pro Tools Le....

i won't use a mac unless they make a chip that can beat out athlonXP's... my boy tried t tell me his dual G4 800 could out do my xp 1600+... running nuendo its close... but my new dual athlonXP 1800 or 2000... is gonna be stupid :D

I have a PC. I like the new OSX, but I'm not going to shell out the dinero for a slower computer.

What is the advantage in using a mac now? I used to hear that stability was the main reason but with Win 2k and XP, that doesn't seem like a problem for PC's anymore. I ran XP Pro for the last four months without a single crash or error, and all of my recording programs worked better than ever. I will most likely be going back to XP as soon as I can by a new sound card (Audiophile, probably). PC's have become just as stable as any Mac.

You haven't used a Mac, have you? Mac operating systems prior to OSX were about as prone to crashing as the Win9x line. OSX represents a huge step forward in features and stability.

Hmmmmmmm!
Seems like people are buying PC's generally because of the price point!
But by the time u have finshed with them and upgrading all the time they will have spent about the same as u would on a mac!

I Love my Mac 8500. Came stock with stereo RCA's, composite & S-Video in/out. Holds a gig of ram. 250 watt PS. Added a G3 card, 18GB Seagate, Plexwriter & a Voodoo5. Running ProTools with 2 monitors and totally stable. This thing was worked HARD for 4 years before I got it and it still works great. Best part was the machine was FREE.:D All I had to do was clean it up and install the upgrades.

I run my Mac because when I started out, the Ataris were too slow, and the PC's simply couldn't be trusted. Macs worked, that's why I got a Mac! I've never found a reason to change ever since, and to change would mean changing all my software and hardware. I just don't think so.

Interesting anecdote: A few years ago, the biggest music store here were dealing both Macs and PC's. However, they decided to quit dealing with PC's, because all the PC customers needed so much support that the store realized they would have to hire a guy on full time, solely to deal with that. They simply thought they couldn't afford to go on with the PC's.

Well, like I said this was a few years ago, and from what I understand Microsoft have finally gotten a grip. So if I started out today, it may have been a whole different story.

Cheers
/Henrik

I had both. A G4 with Digi001 and PIII 700Mhz with MOTU 2408mkII. I sold the G4 and 001.

Yah! Gotten a grip on PC user's souls!!! Just look at all the spyware that comes free with windows xp!!! Your a fool not to use it!!!

I'm an ashamed PC user. And I will never buy new Windows OSs until the get rid of the spyware.

I MEAN THE EVEN LOOK AT WHAT DVDS YOU WHATCH!!!

:mad::mad::mad::mad:

This is not a rant at you Henrik, just a rant sparked by something you said.

Ooooh that feels good.

Are you referring to the reported spyware in Window Media Player? If so, I think this was something that was proven to be untrue.

Their new product activation scheme is kinda lame though.

I have recorded with both and Mac and PC. Virtually no difference. I personally use a PC though. I guess it's all in what you are used to. However, Cool Edit Pro on a PC is hard to beat.

No, I'm talking about Microsoft monitoring what you are doing on your XP based PC. They make no bones about it.
