what it dew? guys,

I want to start recording cuz i have talent on the mic, and so i thought i'd start my home recording studio.

ANYWAYZ yeah im new to recording, and i need some help. I have a pc, fruity loops, and i need to know what else i need to have to start recording.

Basically, a signal chain will look like this:

source (eg: voice) -> Mic (eg: SM58) -cord-> Preamp (eg: DMP3) -cord-> interface (eg: Delta 44) -cord-> soundcard (comes with the 44) -> computer Software (eg: Cubase, reason, etc.)

sometimes the preamp and interface will be built together (eg: M audio Fast Track) and an interface can also use Firewire or USB instead of a PCI soundcard.

Hope that helps.

not really if you're going to use mixing software. i don't think you're going to have so many imputs that you would need a mixer at this point. so thats something you can do without for now. so invest in a mic, some good cables, a preamp, and interface and you should be able to get some recordings together.

oh and also keep in mind that some interfaces have mic preamps built in, so you can kill 2 birds with one stone with something like that.

Yeah, check out M Audio's Fast Track...it'll be useful for you to get your signal into your computer using USB.
