What do I need to record my own tracks ???
I'm a club dj and I spin a lot of electronic music. I usually spin other people's music, either CD or vinyl, but I've become inspired to create my own beats and lay down some serious trax. I know a little about home recording through a computer but I'd be lying if I said I have things under control.
I have a Casio WK series keyboard, two turntables, an average 500MHz processor(loaded WIN98) w/15Gig hardrive, and a CD writer. My objective is to somehow use both my keyboard and turntables to pull off samples and beats and stuff like that, then layer it all on my comp, edit the eq's and details, and at last finalize it then record it on a CD. I'm pretty sure that music on my comp has to be in midi format, and that whatever goes on the CD has to be in WAV.
THE BIG GOAL: creating some big beats of my own and playing them from a CD.
QUESTIONS:
Would this idea of mine be practical or is there an easier way of accomplishing my goal?
What kinda of software and/or hardware would I need?(i.e.soundcards,Caekwalk,Sonic Foundary, etc.)
Does anybody know any good sites where they talk about this in detail?
P>S> Any responses would definitly be a big help, taking in consideration that I really do not know anything about recording software. So please, if you would be so kind as to, provide a general description, in laymans' terms, what hardware/software you're talking about.
