Okay I have 8 tracks on ADAT (1-5) drums (6) Vox (7) guitar (8) bass
very simple setup for practice mixing only. I have a good mix. The bass drum and the snare were precomped and limited(before tape) now its all running into my mixer and I have a good mix......What now? I eventually will take it to sound forge to "master" it. And I use that word loosely. then burn to cd. But what in between? Someone had said to mix down to two tracks because of the two track editing capabilities ofd sound forge....but how do I mix down to two tracks?..if thats the thing to do at all. I guess what I'm asking is patch what into what, from where? I am using Fostex ADATS and a behringer MX 9000 24 ch w/8bus and monitor 2's. Various outboard effects and one behringer composer. Also, I just purchased a new Dell 2.0ghz 512mgsRAM

Once you have the mix, outboard effects, pans and levels, you have to record the main buss (a stereo signal) of the behringer to soundforge (as a stereo wav). In essence, whatever you hear on the speakers is being recorded to the computer. It's the same as if mixing down to a stereo DAT. What you didnt mention that you had but will need is a a/d converter/souncard, something that will take the main buss outputs of the behringer and get it into the computer.
