What direction would you like hip hop to go?

I've seen alot of interesting viewpoints in here. It's good to read everyone elses opinions. I basically feel everyone is about on the same page, give or take a few differences. The rap industry isn't that great right now. Me personally, i'd like to hear something brand new that we can build off of. I'm not saying i want another type of crunk/party movement, but i just would like to hear a new flava with lyrics that make me think, and keep my head bobbin wit the beats. I'm not going to say i hate the 808/clap combo, but it is getting way overused. But like someone else said, eventually these "fad" rappers will fade away and be broke working at burger king or something and hip hop will be real again. As for myself, i'm trying to work on creating a new sound. When i bring it out, i know they'll be haters and critics, but that's ok. Hopefully, at least my homies here at homerecording will like it!

Cross hit that one on the head. It's business not art anymore. So with that being said, you have to approach it with a businessman's mind on you. Does that mean you have to sell yourself out with your lyrics. No. Just means you have to come better and more original. Nothing wrong with that IMO.

History has a way of repeating itself. Look at disco...nuff said.
