what computer do u use in your studio?

hey everybody i was just wondering what computer(s) u use in ur studio and software. does anyone know if the powerbook g4 1.5ghz 15" is any good for production?

its discontinued... looking used i see?

i have an ibook g4, but i cant really use it for anything more than tracking.

my powermac g5 dual handles anything.
 
I have an Intel "Conroe" Core 2 Duo E6700 and 2gb of RAM ands SATA2 RAID.
Now I just need to get a MOTU PCIe -424 card and I'll be a very happy camper.
It's hard to put into words how much better this is than my Prescott P4 3.6.
Plus it doesn't take much power so the fan stays at a slow speed making the PC whisper quiet.

Unfortunately I know very little about Apple Macintosh.

We're using an HP PC, a few years old, but we're getting a new MacBook soon.

Plain macbook, but we won't be getting it for another month or two.
 
oh ok...you think it could handle live, reason, etc well?
 
Well I built mine, it's a watercooled Athlon XP 3200+ with 2GB memory and 1TB of HD space. I still have no idea why I got a terabyte of space I hardly use 300GB. Oh well it's there if I ever need it. Of course I'm thinking of upgrading to a dual core processore which means new board which basically means I'll probably end up building a new computer.
 
Powerbook G4 1ghz.
Theres also that E6600 Conroe box, but its usually just for games
 
I suppose so. We're planning on using it with a Firepod, mainly using Cubase and Garageband. I won't even be around it a whole lot, since I'm not really comfortable without actual knobs to turn. My fiancee's all up on the electronic music, though, so it'll be staying with her.

So could the PowerMac G5s (at least the last generation). If the Mac Pros couldn't, there'd be a lot of disappointed... okay, at least a couple of disappointed users. :D
 
I dont know much about apple either, But it should handle the job,
how much ram and hard drive space do you have?
that will be more of a factor.

I use a cel 1.8 768 mb ram 160 gb...
but I recorded on my p3 500 768 mb ram 120 gb... It tends to slow down if I go heavey on the plug ins but it can do it.

Im upgrading to sempron 64 3400, or a d 2.8? still trying to decide...
