I did this a couple of years ago? But I updated the mix considerably.

Many HPFs, many envelopes, panning, some FX.

I think this version is much better, however? I have learned that people listening is much more valuable than your own opinion.

I am doing everything here? I am playing all of the instruments, I sing all of the parts, and did the production (instruments) The orchestra and strings, horns, the 12-string, etc...

I think it's pretty good :-) But I like all of my stuff?

It's at the top of my new Soundcloud page;

At the top, it's currently remix2. It is "powerful stuff..."

Merry Christmas everybody!!

It's not just good? It's like amazingly good... I listen to it and it gives "me" goose bumps? And I did it? I'm sure it can be improved upon? However, I would like to set the bar for Christmas music? Please meet it, or raise it if you can.

Merry Christmas everyone!!

You have a couple of areas which can be improved upon. The treatment of the vocal and probably some of the instruments is muddling the sonic clarity of the high frequencies a little, which in places on the track makes it sound a little un-natural. I suspect compression is a contributing factor. The track would have more wow if the guitar had a more full blooded tone to compliment the jingly top end which I assume was wanted as it fits the genre. The vocal performance is good, but I want a vocal on a track like this to have a more human quality to it which I think is being diluted here. Don't get me wrong, I think you have put together a nice sounding track that if played to many a listener would generate some favourable responses. I have high expectations when a person says their own track is amazingly good, this is not quite there yet but heading in the right direction.

Merry Christmas

Tim

:-) I tried to unmuddy the bottom, I never really considered that for the top? That's interesting advice, I appreciate it. I'm going to go back and take a look at it. Thank you Tiny Tim! Merry Christmas!!

I agreed with you after listing with your comments in mind. Consequently I pulled the piano out as it wasn't really adding anything, I re-eqed the 12 string, many of the vocals, and the mains. I think the result is better, thanks again Tim.

Merry Christmas, it sounds more balanced now and has added warmth to my ear. I think you probably need to keep an eye on your vocal treatment as you progress with subsequent recordings as it's very easy to lose the human aspect and have it sound slightly funneled even if only by a small amount. I imagine this track played through a home stereo with it's emphasis on what the manufacturer thinks is what the consumer would like to hear, comes across petty well. Through unforgiving flat, warts an all studio monitors it's possible to hear when sounds are cramped and it's finding the point where something is effective while being unobtrusive. You obviously have a passion for your music, good for you, it's a great asset.

all the best

Tim

Done w/Christmas this year and moving on, but this one came out better than I expected :-)
