Any tips ? I find my EQing abilities, especially, very limited to say the least.

Oh my... very harsh and overbright, with no mid presence at all...

The cymbal hits sound like coffee beans hitting a garbage can lid....

Without hearing the raw tracks, I can't tell how much of the issues are with the sound of the tracks, or simply poor EQ/processing during mixing.

This article of mine may give you more hints...

Blue Bear- Fantastic article!! Should be a MAJOR help to those getting started or needing to sharpen their skills.

Thx for the tips, I'm just learning, this was my 2nd attempt at mixing. Excellent article !

Yeh, the drums are ultra-bright. I'll put a dry drumkit and mix it myself, instead of using a processed one. Lazy ass :)

EQ is still a very difficult subject for me, but guess there's no way other than learn it. What track you think would benefit from a proper EQ/reverb/compression ? I'm also considering where to leave some space for vocals.

I thought your article was a great introduction. The EQ part was lost on me a bit since that went into some technical jargon. Still I like your advice about getting the basic sound right at tracking stage instead of trying to fix it later at mixing stage.

Thanks

Danny

Yes, good article. I just read it and I never really thought of the 3D space as far as front/back (always thought of high/low and left/right). Your insight is very helpful to a noob producer like myself. Great charts too! I think I'll borrow them...thanks......
