What cable(s) needed?

I just downloaded Audacity and want to make a trial run. I'm buying an Audigy Creative Labs SoundBlaster Audigy2 ZS 7.1 that I hope will be sufficient for a decent recording (will it?).

My question tho is - I need to know what cable to buy to connect my amp, a Behringer 212 GMX to the line in of the sound card. There are two stereo line out jacks from the amp. I suppose it would be a Y-jack of come sort but would I need stereo out really?

first of all dont get the soundblaster...while you can record using it..its NOT ideal...thats more of a gamers card if ya know what i mean.
If ya want to do audio work with your pc..id suggest something made for audio recording!
Perhaps THIS or THIS AND if your budget allows..THIS would be ideal and give you plenty of inputs for the future!

As for cabling, the stero line out are probably 1/4 inch zacks right? So you would need 2 mono 1/4 inch to 1 stero 1/8 inch minijack to plug into the normal "line in" jack of most PCs. If you get a real recording soundcard which other are (correctly) reccomending, you might have other options, they can tgive you different jack types and more input at once than the two with a standard sound card. For now, if you are just recording 2 channels at a time (left and right from the mixer) you could probably use audacity with whatever cheapo soundcard you have now.

Avoid the mic in jack it will be noisy, use the line in.

I don't have a cheapo card now.... I have the extra cheap on board sound, so cheap there are no jacks.. lol. I would be recirding track at a time and don't envision taking my PC to my band's rehearsal space. We go to a local studio when we do record.. the old analog, reel to reel, then it's mixed to digital. Not sure why it's done this way, but I'm just the guitar player.

I am a gamer so the Audigy came to mind... Does the sound quality suffer with it? If so I'll certainly avoid it. And would most places like Best Buy have the cables needed? It sounds like a not so common item.

Any opinion on this one regarding sound quality on the Audigy versus a multiple input card? I'm gonna get my bass player to spring for the multiple input card on his PC if so, since we use his practice space. I'll keep the Audigy for my home use if sound quality won't suffer.
