What applications are the Blue Baby Bottle used for?

I've never owned or used a Blue microphone, but the Baby Bottle seems to be their most highly regarded value microphone. But, what does it sound good on? Vocals? Toms? Guitar? Are they like JoeMeek preamps where their have their own distinct voicing...just curious I guess!

Going from memory, they are fairly flat with a slight peak just under 3000hz. To my ear when I tested one, it kinda reminded me of an AT 4047 with a little more edge.

Some people really like them, some people really don't. It all comes down to the source you're mic'ing whether it will work well and be pleasing or not.

Never used a 4047, but that sounds about right. Nice on some vocalists and acoustic guitars.
Cuts through a mix nicely.

the baby bottle is not a tube mic, in fact its on the low end of blue's line. its not a super versatile mic but can sound pretty decent for acoustic stuff and on some vocals.

Electric Guitar!!! On a clean to mildly distorted guitar, the baby sounds great!

You just need a pre that can handle it, or pad the output of the baby.

Also very cool on FOK, upright bass, and sometimes piano.

Disregard the part of my original post about the tube thing, I thought you said "valve" and not "value", my apologies. FWIW though, I think the bluebird is more suited to a wider range of sources than the baby bottle. That's just my personal experience.
