What about the TASCAM US-122?

...and what about cheaper? I really just need to run my guitar through my PC - but don't want to use the cheap motherboard audio card.

What about something real cheap and just a single input for a guitar, any ideas?

Well, In that price range you probably won't find too many other comparable options. I don't have any tascam usb gear. I opted for an Echo Mia soundcard with 1/4" i/o. The unit you're considering has many more features than my card does for the same price I paid for mine. What the hey! I say try it and if you hate it you'll only be out a couple hundred bucks and you can always sell it to somebody else who may find it ideal for them.

I have one too, works great with my laptop...

Check out the Tascam forum here, theres 3 or so threads on the US-122...

Have mine now for about 3 weeks. Works GREAT with Sonar 2XL on my laptop. I've recorded both audio and midi without a hitch.
Highly recommended.

P.S.-If you only need AUDIO inputs (if you DON'T need MIDI), there may be one or two other interfaces out there that might be a few dollars cheaper. I think this one is hard to beat.
