What is known about the Lexicon Omega? All I've been able to find on the Internet is the manufacturers ad/review for it. Has it proven to be reliable? So many more inputs for the price........

One thread on the subject is good enough, dontcha think?

I wouldn't touch a Lexicon recording device with a 10ft pole, after they dropped their support for the Core 2 system like a bad habit.

I like mine!

I've had the Omega for maybe three months now. I have had no problems with it. Protracks is supposed to be a lot like Calkwalk but I've never used Cakewalk so I wouldn't know. I think Protracks is limited to 16
digital audio tracks. I haven't tried more than 8 yet.

The preamps are by dbx and are very clean but not very exciting. I have a little tube preamp to spice it up a bit.

One thing you should realize is that although it has two XLR inputs and 4 line inputs, there are actually only 4 outputs to the software. You assign two of the three input pairs (mic1&2, line1&2, line3&4) to the two output pairs (USB1&2, USB3&4). The assigns are the push buttons on the front.

It is somewhat of a mixer which is nice. I can monitor with zero-latency by running my pc audio back into one of the line input pairs. You could probably do this with the mbox too. It also takes a coaxial digital in for zero-latency but my pc only has an optical out.

Not a lot of grassroot support for it. Sometimes I think I'm the only one who has one!

I got an open-box unit at American musical for about $310. I think it's a good deal and it does have everything you need aside from the mics to begin recording.
