Would this program be any good if I have a mixer into my soundcard line in and just record 1 instrument at a time ?

also you might want to check out guitar tracks pro 3.
looks pretty complete. probably more features than you need.
i dont know about operational aspects.
i think 3 is limited to 32 tracks ? might want to check that out ?
you might want to also check out multitrackstudio.com and try the demo
to compare effects etc or what i use - powertracks which is 48 tracks and is cheaper, does 24 bit and has a large number of fx built in including lots of drum, bass, vocal and guitar audio fx settings as well as comp/lim .as well as master fx across the master bus.
but i DONT want to get into a software platform war as in the past.
just try the demo from pgmusic and make your own decision..
one thing that i use will allow you to do that the others dont from what i see is it has a tc helicon feature built in for creating vocal harmonies from a vocal track and a slew of other features i dont have time to mention.
recording and audio editing is superbly easy.just be open minded and give it a try. if you use a excellent sound card with great convertors youll get as pretty tracks as anything higher priced. read the reviews at the site and talk to users on the forum.peace

Thanks for the info....I'd be happy with 16 tracks and easy to use. I'll check out the demo.

bub..
also check the user forum. i was not aware of this ..but i was told recently its been used for commercial jingles you hear on radio etc etc and a lot of commercial stuff. look for posts by poster mac whose been audio engineering
since forever. a very knowledgeable audio engineer with a lot of tricks.
note his post that he uses powertracks for his live work over other products.
because of operational stability and recovery. this is often worth more than everything but the kitchen sink in features. ie...really delve into the demo. peace.
