If you're refering to the song, I believe The House of the Rising Sun' was a gambling/whore house. (I guess they needed to diversify.) It was located in New Orleans, LA.
You need to checka you out som Wayne Toups dare. If you like da zydeco. You can dance all night long to dat dare chanky-chank.
You will ware you self out all da way plum.

I heard a recent tape lately by a female singer, don't know her name, (kind of folk style, with accoustic guitar) doing a song called "Dyslexic" - only remember a couple of great lines - -
"I fell in love with a man
Otto was his name -
Cause no matter how you spell it
It always comes out the same"
and - after singing about being stopped by a cop for turning right with her left turn signal on, then putting it in reverse and backing into the cop after getting the ticket, she moaned -
"well - TIHS happens"
all this going on with the background singers singing,
"diddy diddy wah doo"
