I don't know if i'm ready to leave ProTools at the moment, but i'm looking for some good converters that i can plug in my 1814 adat port.

or maybe a 2channel A/D vía spdif, would be an option too.

I only have 1K :)

thanks

8Pre? Works well as long as you just use ADAT and don't try to share a FireWire bus between them. If you do, the 1814 suddenly can't keep up with ADAT synchronization and basically goes momentarily catatonic on you. :D

I'm planning to use just the ADAT.

I was thinking on a FireFace 400 plugged vía adat to the 1814, and rec those 8 channels only.

Will i have any problem with this?

Thanks.

Do you want quality converters and pre's? If so it's going to be hard to stick to that thousand dollar mark. If that's what you need then you should go more for the spdif, two channels is much cheaper. Check out something like the minime by appogee.

I just need A/D. I have some pres already.

But i'm afraid of surprises with the 1814 via ADAT.

What kind of surprises, pretty much what you see is what you get.

When it works. Like I said, it must be the only FireWire device on the bus or your ADAT ports basically go unstable in my experience. That's the biggest concern about the FW1814 and ADAT. :)
