On the back of my compressor there is a button on each channel that says.. +10 or -4.

Now I have it routed to the inserts on my mixer so what db should I be using?

Depends on what gain structure your mixer operates at... should be in the manual....

Ok, I am looking the spec's for my mixer.. (Yamaha MG16/4) but there are a ton of numbers which one is relevant?

Channel insert in

Rated level 0 dBu
Sensitivity -20 dBu
Max before clip +20 dBu

I just looked at the mixer specs on the yamaha site... the mixer operates on the +4dBu gain structure, so set your compressor to +4.....

Thanks BB.. I do believe I had it set wrong. Excellent. Thanks!

I presume your compressor actually reads -10/+4.

The Yamaha inserts are 0dB(V, I think), that's pretty close to +4 dBu so that's what I'd use.

D'Oh! Beaten by the bear. Just like in Legends of the Fall, in the end, the bear always wins
