someone wanted a little mando. so I did this little ditty on the 788, mostly trying some effects shit on the vocals. and since I'm not a singer (you'll see), I just wanted you folks to let me know what you think. I love the recorder.

acoustic guitar
bass
mando
vocals (yeah, how about that, he he he he)

Great tune my friend. The triple picking on the mando is sweet. Your doubled vocal drifted in a few spots but don't let that stop you. Very, very nice. I like this one.

cool tune..

I agree about dumping some of the doubled vocal.. Check out the effects on the 788.. There is one that has chorus, reverb, de-esser etc... sometimes a little chorus on the vocals will give you almost a doubling effect..

nice relaxing tune, but I think you should mess with the compression a bit because the levels get a bit uneven at times and it distracts from the listen..

nice tune though..

thanks Track, like I siad, trying the effects stuff. New toy.

thanks B., still working on the effects and that compression stuff. Lots of fun, saying, "that sounds pretty good, or, that sounds like shit". he he he he he

I'll try this one some more, for sure.

thanks guys,

yowza...they're are a bunch of ya singin':D

are some of your mando strings out of tune?

nice tune...I think you're vocals will work....maybe in not one take...or a complete take...but they're there.

Nice mando playing and a decent song.

Like the others, I think the vocal doubling could be touched up here and there.

Having some fun with the effects is never a bad thing. :D

mix, and 3M,

thanks guys, new toys make you try stuff you ain't done, or weren't capable of before. he he he he he
yeah, some pairs weren't correct on the mando, but the singging was really in tune, he he he he he
having fun again, and I know I'm recording more.

Nice mando playing. The bass was a little heavy overall. A little bass cut in the vocals might help.

hey,
No real advice. I just wanted to pop in and say nice pickin'. Your getting a good recording of the acoustic git tone:cool:. You should sing more often. Your voice has a nice quality to it. Good for story songs and mid range ballads. I'd try some verb and chorus and ditch the double tracks.

Nice tune dude.

Theron.

I love mandolin. I went to see george Clinton and P-Funk and believe it or not, he had a mandolin player in that big ol' horn band. Cat could wail too.
This is a nice song to sit and meditate on..........just mellow out. There was a time I would have made this one of my mushroom tunes. :D
I agree with everyone about the dbl-tracked vocals. I'd pull one of them down in the mix 'till it fills in but doesn't actually stand out. Other than that it's a good mix I thought.

tex, thanks dude, working on the eg and differenst features of this recorder. lots to learn.

theron, yeah, just trying everything. thanks.

Lt., yeah on the shrooms dude. thanks,

I'm trying lots of things I haven't been able to do before cause the 788 has all this stuff on it. Sure is fun.

dtb, really liked your song. The guitar sounds awesome. What kind do you have? The song sounds like something Lennon would have written. Good job.

This has a great feel. Your voice reminds me of Cat Stevens. You could probably get that kind of sound with some EQ, like someone else said, cut some bottom end. I have a 788, too. I haven't got anything posted, but I've been recording quite a bit and it is fun. I'm glad your getting some good use out of yours. Keep it up!

slkeen, thanks,
Liked Cat Stevens until he left us and went religious. Yeh, still a lot to learn on the 788. Great machine. Post some stuff. I post 1st takes and shit to to see what folks say. he he he he

Dtb, this is nice stuff. The first 10 or 20 seoconds reminds me of the intro to Blind Melon's "Holy Man." God I loved that band.
Still do, but Alas! Shanon Hoon is in Rock and Roll heaven...

I love your voice man. Personally, I think the two vox sounds would better if you had one of them singing more in "free time." Ya know, sustain a few notes here and there on the dryer track or something. The split kinda comes outa nowhere. But believe me...I know how it is experimenting with new gear and trying to restrain yourself!
The song is beautiful!

I also listened to 788 Blues #2. Gits sound great....

clay, thanks, I have a HD28, 2001 model, a killer axe. Tone for ever and then some. I just use a 57 to mic her thru a little mixer into the 788.

SLuiCe, thanks, never do much singging. Just been working on it for a while. I have a hard time playing and singging, and then I have a hard time playing the tunz without singging. As soon as I rig up a system to cut down on the mic bleed I think I can be more comfortable singging.

thanks again,

dtb

PS. I've been trying to answer for a while and get to the submit button and, you know, "to many people logged on at this time" shit.
