Cool Edit's been dishing up some weirdnesses that I can't figure out. Maybe you can help me out.

The first one is with version 1.2. I've unistalled and reinstalled, but I'm still getting it: when I use Save As in Edit View and save a track as a wav file, the Save as Type window says: "Windows PCM (*.4;*.wav)". That *.4 is weird, right? And when I save the track, it crops up in Windows Explorer listed as a .4 file rather than as a .wav file.

Anybody have *any* idea what's going on? (In 2.1, there is no *.4 option when I Save As - there's just *.wav).

I'm thinking the fact that this thread has had over 30 views and not one reply is a measure of the weirdness of this problem lol.

Hey, when you hit PCM .Wav, hit "Options" before you save it and tell me what it says.

There's just been a similar question on the Adobe forum, where, from a previous post, the advice given was to rename any files that had acquired that odd extension and to reinstall the program. You've already done the latter part - but maybe you didn't uninstall sufficiently - maybe a registry cleaner is necessary, and make sure there are no files left hanging around in the program directory. (Being careful of course to retain some backup of anything you want to recover, eg cool.ini).

More weirdness. The problem went away, so Chris, I can't carry out that suggestion of yours. Now it's saving wav files as wav files.

Ozpeter - yeah, what I did was put the session into my Cool 2.1 and rename everything the way I wanted. I do the reg cleaner thing next time I uninstall.

Okay, just so you aren't too disappointed, this week I'm planning to start a thread called Weirdness #2. You ain't seen nothin' yet.
